How not to design a flyer!
This week I met someone who showed me one of his flyers. The colours were great (black red and white) and it featured his bold and well-designed logo. That’s the good news.
The bad news is that he didn’t have his flyer professionally designed. How could I tell? Every inch of space was covered with something: a twitter logo, a facebook logo, a barcode, chunks of text – and that was just the front! The back was chock-full of text, panels, boxes and more logos.
When it comes to good design, simplicity reigns. A well placed logo, a clear message, strong bold colours, perhaps an image, and easy-to-find contact details are all that’s needed. Don’t be afraid of white space – that’s what makes a design look professional.
