Promote yourself and find professionals in publishing with bookmachine.me

Do you work in publishing? Ever had trouble getting work, finding the right contributors for your project, or making strategic alliances? Fret no more. Laura and Gavin Summers, founders of Bookmachine, have recently launched the latest version of www.bookmachine.me.
You can use the site in 2 ways. The first is to promote yourself. Create an account, then build yourself a profile and portfolio. The ‘Tour’ button on the top-right of the screen does what it says on the tin, and gives easy instructions. This is what my page looks like:

The second way is to find contributors/collaborators. Go to the ‘People’ tag, select the skillset you are looking for from the drop-down menu, then select the city you work in (all the big publishing hubs are represented).

You will be rewarded with a random screenful of candidates. By scrolling through these you may well find who you are looking for. Gavin admits the site is still a work in progress, so keep checking in to see what new features are enabled.
This new site is not intended to replace traditional ways of getting work like phoning or networking (try the Galley Club, Bookmachine or Byte The Book) but cannot fail to enhance them.
